Sam joined in 2022 in a newly created role to provide commercially strategic marketing and communications expertise across Playful produced productions in the West End, on tour and internationally, while also liaising on Playful general management shows as required.
Across 15 years in the commercial and subsidised theatre sectors, Sam has acquired a uniquely varied perspective having worked as a senior and founding member of independent marketing agency JOE PUBLIC, and Head of Marketing for the world-renowned National Theatre, during which time he spearheaded its marketing through both the pandemic and its successful reopening.
At Playful, Sam is embedded at the heart of commercial productions to lead a breadth of freelancers and commercial agencies in the strategy, design and implementation of high-impact and highly scalable campaigns. Whether for a multi-million-pound, award-winning musical or the limited season of an acclaimed drama, Sam prides his leadership style on authenticity, empathy and decisiveness to affect results
