Janet Powell

A founder member of Playful, Janet heads up the GM team with her colleagues on the Senior Management Team, and has worked with Matthew, Nia and Nick since 2006. Janet worked for fifteen years in regional theatre, most notably at Nottingham Playhouse and the Crucible and Lyceum Theatres in Sheffield, followed by ten years as General Manager of subsidised and commercial touring productions for producer Jenny King. Whilst working across all of Playful’s slate, Janet has also managed productions such as Good, Quiz, No Man’s Land, Blithe Spirit, The King’s Speech, Clybourne Park and Flare Path. She serves on the Stage One Council and is on the UK Theatre Finance and Strategy Committee. Janet has a PhD in Ancient History and is an Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London.
