Following a sell-out run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Kent’s acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd transferred to the Adelphi Theatre for a limited season from 10 March to 22 September 2012. Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim’s musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd starred distinguished musical performer Michael Ball as the eponymous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as the devoted Mrs Lovett.

Choreography was by Denni Sayers, design by Anthony Ward, lighting design by Mark Henderson, sound design by Paul Groothuis, musical direction by Nicholas Skilbeck, orchestration by Jonathan Tunick and casting by Pippa Ailion CDG. The production won three awards at the 2014 Olivier Awards; Best Actor in a Musical for Michael Ball, Best Actress in a Musical for Imelda Staunton and Best Musical Revival.

Sweeney Todd was produced by Playful Productions, Robert G. Bartner, Old Vic Productions, Matthew Mitchell, Roger Berlind, Joseph Smith and Michael McCabe, Daniel Sparrow and Mike Walsh Productions and Parnassus Enterprises Inc.
