Matthew Byam Shaw developed Frost/Nixon with playwright Peter Morgan prior to its first critically-acclaimed production at the Donmar Warehouse. The production transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for a limited season from 9 November 2006 to 3 February 2007. Starring Michael Sheen as David Frost and Frank Langella as Richard Nixon, Frost/Nixon was directed by Michael Grandage, with set and costume designs by Christopher Oram, lighting design by Neil Austin, video design by Jon Driscoll, hair and wig designs by Richard Mawbey and casting by Anne McNulty CDG.
The production subsequently transferred to Broadway, for a limited engagement at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre from 31 March to 19 August 2007, again starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella, who won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. Matthew Byam Shaw was a producer of Ron Howard’s 2008 film of Frost/Nixon, also starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella, which received five Oscar®, six BAFTA® and five Golden Globe® award nominations.
Frost/Nixon was presented at the Gielgud Theatre by Matthew Byam Shaw, Arielle Tepper Madover, Robert Fox and Act Productions. The production at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre was presented by Arielle Tepper Madover, Matthew Byam Shaw, Robert Fox, Act Productions, David Binder, Debra Black, Annette Niemtzow/Harlene Freezer and The Weinstein Company.
